Balaia Golf Village
Top places to see and visit in the Algarve
The Algarve is renowned for its breathtaking cliffs, golden beaches and sandy islands, whilst hotels, tourist villages and resorts range from the simplest to the most sophisticated - so there's something for every type of holidaymaker.
We know that no two holiday destinations in the Algarve will ever be the same, but here are just a few of the top places worth visiting.
It's probably no surprise we've began this list with the place we like to call our second home. If you love a spot of golf on a quality course with tremendous views over stunning beaches, Balaia Gold Village will be perfect for you. It's also ideally situated near the beautiful town Olhs d'Agua, the Zoomarine animal park and the picturesque hillside town of Loule.
Like Balaia, Albufeira is a coastal city in the southern Algarve region of Portugal. It's a former fishing village that has become a major holiday destination with golden sands, blue water and a busy nightlife strip. Local fishermen now use the modern marina as a base for diving, dolphin-watching and boat trips, whilst it's blessed with an array of candy-colored apartments and a waterfront promenade. For a truly tasty meal, we recommend you visit the beautiful 'A Varanda' restaurant in this village, but wherever you choose to drink and dine; you're certainly in for a treat.
We couldn't round off this article without mentioning Faro, which is the capital of southern Portugal's Algarve region. With cobbled streets, historic buildings and one of the largest shopping centres in the region, Faro has lots to offer. The neoclassical Arco da Vila is on the site of a gate that was part of the original Moorish wall, whilst the monumental archway leads to the old town where even more historic beautiful buildings can be seen.
